Single Membership: $25.00 -- Family Membership: $35.00
As a chapter, we support the Rocky Mountain Horese Association's (RMHA)explicit purpose of preserving, promoting, breeding, and developing the Rocky Mountain Horse®. There are quarterly meetings, a quarterly newsletter is published, and we sponsor events throughout the season. Our focus is the Rocky Mountain Horse Breed. This is a rare, gaited horse with an extremely people oriented personality that makes this horse the perfect choice for all ages. (While we are not a trail, camping club, there are clubs who have trail riding as their purpose. Some of our members have duel memberships in our Chapter and also in a trail riding club.)
We realize there are many people, young and old, dreaming of horse ownership. Some of you are reaching a stage in life where it is possible to own your first horse. “Horse sense” has almost been lost in this modern age of machinery. How will folks brand new to horses, find their way through the world of equine breeds and learn about equine management, husbandry? Most importantly, how will people find out about the Rocky Mountain Horse, since they are so rare with less than 15,000 registered in the world? That is where the RMHA comes in and why they have formed chapters across the USA. Chapters have been formed to assist people locally and we provide a source of support to those in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
This Chapter has added education to the purposes outlined by the RMHA above. If you are newly interested in horses and would like to spend time with people who are knowledgable, The Upper Mid-West Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Horse Association will be a good resource and place to start. We welcome folks new to horses and spend time to teach people how to ride a gaited horse (which is a little different from a trotting horse). In addition, Bill Haack provides riding lessons, boarding, leasing, training and breeding services for Rockies at Liberty Farm.
If you already have a Rocky and are looking to spend time with people who have like interests, we provide a safe and supportive environment for families and people of all ages to have fun horsing around while at the same time improving your riding skills and horse sense. Our Chapter sponsors special events such as a Fun Show and Poker Run. We also have opportunities to learn about Rockies in clinics and in our quarterly newsletter.
We are a down to earth group and welcome you to take some time to come out and visit us. You will be glad you did.
