Core Riding Training builds balance, confidence and coordination for the riders and a system of communicating with the horse that is simple. This training builds a solid foundation which includes an education in the application of the aids (communication with your horse using your seat, legs, and hands with the correct amount of pressure). Safety is our number one concern for rider and horse both. We welcome you to get involved in our lesson program with any breed of horse!
Some students of equitation may think that core riding and equitation techniques are only suitable for students of dressage. In fact, that’s not the case. Whether you’re eventing or competing in the hunter-jumper ring or involved in any other riding discipline especially the recreational rider who plans to meet the rigors of a trail, these techniques can help you to improve your riding pleasure through relaxation and ability to follow the horses movement which causes less stress for you and your horse.
Benefits of Core Riding:
Safety: Gaining the ability to stay seated in the saddle no matter what movement your horse makes, helps to ensure your well being and safety. Learn where the correct position in the saddle is located for each individual rider and how to get and stay there...
Balance & Coordination: Exercises for balance and to develop coordination throughout your body will assist you to maintain that "velcro" seat.
Use of the Aids The balance and coordination that we develop for your seat serves to refine your hand, seat, and leg aids increasing their efficiency which in turn requires less work on your part! Confidence to know how and where to place yourself in the saddle to remain safe while also having complete control over your aids and actions gives way to a new sense of confidence and clearer communication with your horse.
Competitive Edge: While not all riding is about competing, certainly those who want to improve their performance both in and out of the show ring will find benefit. Learn how to ride with ease, with quiet legs and hands, and with minimal effort on your part. Influence the horse with any of aids you choose while learning to do so with incredibly subtle and refined aids and more clear communication between you and your horse.
Absolutely For All Riders of any breed of horse: Whether you just want to roll down the trail on a beautiful day, create a musical kur, love to jump, hack your horse or compete in western, core training will benefit you! What all riders have in common is the desire to stay safely and confidently in the saddle while improving the responsiveness and performance of their horse with minimal effort. Core riding skills presents the possibility of all these desires!
